« Ethiopia – Danakil Salt Way

A worker in a salt pool at lake Afrera, in southern Danakil, where salt extraction has been already industrialized over ten years ago. Lake waters are pumped into an immense streak of artificial desiccation basins, where salt is left “freeze” until it turns to a compact blanket, which is then crushed until it becomes like dust.
